Bt why you are applying for an apprenticeship

BT has had an apprenticeship scheme in place for over 50 years. Currently it delivers 11 different apprenticeships across the business, in IT, engineering, finance and customer service. The programmes range between two - four years depending on the type of qualifications and skilling area. Applicant requirements vary depending on the role you are applying for. Alongside the academic study, a competence qualification proves that the apprentice is able to apply his or her learning in the workplace.

BT has recently taken school leavers into a finance managers programme which will allow them to progress to a Level 7 CIMA qualification, we are planning to create an apprenticeship opportunity from this and , if successful, target more young people into finance.

BT has recently announced its further commitment to the scheme with more apprenticeships places being offered this year. In addition BT expects to recruit another apprentices for other roles in the business in the coming year.

These additional places are on top of the apprentices in the current financial year ending March 31, having received 18, applications — more than 40 for each available position.

Some people think being an apprentice means you are restricted to a specific job once you have completed the apprenticeship. This is not the case at BT, not only are apprenticeships available for a variety of fields: IT, engineering, finance and customer service, but the subsequent roles apprentices can go onto at the company are diverse.

Together they are working to create new IT apprenticeship jobs by September BT is providing a Quality Assurance service, to ensure the framework delivery is at the standard BT would expect for its own apprentices. BT is also working with three schools to help provide employment opportunities for the pupils. BT sponsorship involves time and resource including the provision of a project director in Manchester and Hastings to support the establishment of the Academy. BT runs a number of different classes like circuit training spinning box fit and even runs its very own charity sports day.

BT also take part in many charity events such as the 3 peaks challenge the great East Swim and a number of different events you can attend.

Its not only sports the apprentices also have social events like bowling and day trips to BTs Venues. There are book clubs, language clubs and other clubs to get involved with in spare time. If you can get a degree apprenticeship in a field of work you are interested in it is stupid not to apply for it it's everything you get from university and more, making it much easier to progress your career faster and get used to the working environment before you finish your career not to even mention the fact you avoid the student debt!

BT especially has so many amazing oppurtunies within the technology field and being such a flexible workplace i have never felt restricted in what I can do and my future career path. Showing that you're pasisonate and enthusiastic about: Making the world a better place by the power of communication And learning BTs values: Personal simple brilliant And the meaning behind them definietly puts you a step forward.

Get work experience within the technology field also puts you ahead of other applicants with little to no experience. East of England. Programme Type:. Review Date:. February Review Score 9. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills? Everyone is friendly and always willing to help out, whilst you're given similar responsibilities to team members, you are expected to make mistakes and learn from them which is really good.

Because of the high level of responsibility I'm given such as running my own projects - I feel very valued. I've received recognition through TSO E-Card awards for saving the business money and Apprentice managers are very supportive.

My programme is very well structured. The 5 day week is split into 3 days in the workplace, one day at the university and another day is a study day. I can take this study day at my desk or in the many other buildings on site. The study day is good for catching up with NVQ and degree work. From the provider of my NVQ I receive plenty of support and training to help me achieve my level 4 in telecoms.

My university training provider University of Suffolk is not always available or helpful in support but luckily I can get the support I need from other apprentice peers in higher years who have gone through the same course. I receive lots of support through regular 's where my manager checks on my progress and supports me through any issues. Furthermore, my apprentice coach checks that my actual apprenticeship is going okay and that I am being supported properly within the company.

My salary more then compensates for my needs and costs. I live locally to BT Adastral Park so its a short 10minute drive. However, there are multiple bus routes from the train station direct to BT. The salary even in first year is way higher then the minimum wage and a lot higher than many other apprenticeship wages.
