Many of his lyrics reference the Bay Area in favorable and colorfully descriptive ways, and it's unsurprising that, as an Ohio native, Wolf seems to relish in the city that provided a platform for his musical endeavors and community. As a whole, the lyrics flow through the music like curiously nonsensical daydreams, but their slightly sinister edge infects the mass of major chords and prevents them from sounding too sugary.
On the EP's three previously unreleased tracks, Why? The guitars are delicately jangly, and McDiarmid's piano chords embellish songs like "Pick Fights" to strikingly simple effect, intersecting Wolf as he reflects on his Ohio days. Although Why? Yeah there is def. General Comment a person is stuck in an emotional rut and finds himself incapable of getting out of it. No Replies Log in to reply. General Comment I partly agree with proxima, song definitely seems to be about depression. He lists the many many things he wants to do, be productive. He's trying so damn hard.
But even when he has everythign all prepped and ready to go, the depression prevents him from goind any further. Anyways, that's what this song means to me, and I feel right along with it. General Comment i feel like this song is less about suicide and more about NOT committing suicide. General Comment I think this song is about a person wavering between living and comitting suicide.
In the verses he is listing all this stuff he wants to do and that he wants to happen to him but then in the middle of the verse it changes to something more negative that makes him feel like killing himself again. The chorus "I dont want to when I feel like I could have gone longer" means, in this interperatation, that he no longer wants to kill himself once he feels like he could continue living longer.
There are also little hints that he is prepared to kill himself at ant time. I think the Rubber Traits part could be like Treefinger said, a fake personality in that either he is suicidal for attention or that he pretends to be fine though he is suicidal.
I'm not sure which one makes more sense. ComicalBird on January 07, Link. My Interpretation I have always taken this song to refer to anorexia or bulimia, and I'm surprised no one else has.
Pardon the length. Could be referring to bleeding of the gums, a common issue with bulimics due to brushing too hard to conceal their bad breath after vomiting. This may ALSO be interpreted as bleeding gums due to a vitamin deficiency, which is often an issue with anorexics. Bulimia, obviously.
A fly is something disgusting and insignificant to most people; it's fighting against a pane of glass, idiotically, as the fly cannot win. Poor interpreting, I admit. But, certainly, the stomach swelling up and dying is referring to death by starvation. Fionn on April 17, Link. I am sorry but this is really dumb. As bad as it is that they're not recognized it only makes their music more intimate to me. I know it doesn't mean shit that I enjoy their music but if Why?
Maybe they don't have mass appeal but if you go to shows plenty of people show up and sing along. Mohd yup. Thanks boys. This band is an antidepressant and has meant so much to me for so long.
